2024-25 SDC Board Members

The Student Duke Club Board is made up of student leaders who have a passion for JMU Athletics. Our SDC Board collaborates with JMU Athletics and the Duke Club as leaders for game day student events and activities, campus special events, and student outreach and engagement. Our board is tasked with being leaders and sharing the importance of our student-athlete experience.

Why I Joined SDC: I joined the SDC board to be more interactive with JMU sports. I love our teams and want to help support them however I can!

SDC LEADERSHIP INFORMATION

The SDC Board term stretches from August to May. All SDC members are encouraged to apply to any open positions. Members will be notified when applications open and close. Board members may be asked to return dependent on their performance and graduation year.

The SDC Board is made up of five positions; president, vice president, events coordinator, media coordinator and campus outreach. See below for position descriptions.

The President is the primary contact for the student organization. This person will also be the spokesperson of the group who serves as the liaison between the Duke Club and the members of the Student Duke Club. Responsibilities include:
Oversee the Student Duke Cub
Facilitate board meetings
Schedule location and time
Plan meeting agendas
Meet with Duke Club liaison
Attend all events and meetings
Other duties assigned
The Vice President will assist the president as well as other board members as needed. The VP is required to stay up to date on the organization’s communications and events. Responsibilities include:
Record meeting minutes at board meetings
Assist with event planning and campus outreach efforts
Assist with purchasing of collateral materials and other giveaways
Other duties as assigned
The Media Coordinator will create branded content for the Student Duke Club. Responsibilities include:
Attend a training session on JMU/Duke Club Branding at the beginning of the fall semester
Proficient in Canva or Photoshop preferred
Create and promote SDC content through Instagram
Create social media marketing plan for 2023-2024 SDC Events
Assist with buildout of communications (email, social, etc.)
Other duties as assigned
The Events Coordinator is responsible for the planning and facilitation of all SDC events. Responsibilities include:
Plan and facilitate events
Organize social events for SDC members
Plan giveaways and games for each semester
Plan general body meetings (1-2 per semester)
Work closely with GA to secure locations, times, etc. for events
Attend and serve as point of contact for all SDC all events
Other duties as assigned
The Campus Outreach Coordinator will work with campus clubs and partners. Responsibilities include:
Plan and facilitate tabling
Plan and facilitate membership apparel pick-up
Establish and maintain relationships with campus clubs and departments
Acquire guest speakers for SDC General Body Meetings
Other duties as assigned
