It's the final week to participate in the Duke Dog Paver program for install by this fall. The Paver Program is a legacy brick campaign that offers the JMU community the opportunity to personalize and memorialize the people, places, and experiences most important to them with a custom engraved brick on campus.

THE DEADLINE TO PURCHASE BRICKS FOR INSTALL FOR FALL 2023 IS SATURDAY, JULY 15.

The legacy bricks are available in two sizes — 4" x 8" or 8" x 8" — allowing you to craft your personalized message to fit your preferred brick size.

Brick by brick, as part of this special tradition, the legacy of JMU family and friends is woven into the footprint of campus in the courtyard of the Plecker Athletic Performance Center (APC) — located at the entrance of Bridgeforth Stadium, with the bricks located at the foot of the iconic Duke Dog statue. The courtyard has now become a rallying spot during football games, a photo opportunity for all, and a special place to commemorate a graduation or other milestone accomplished by JMU alumni, family and friends.

    STEP 1: CHOOSE YOUR BRICK, DONATION AMOUNT & LOCATION

Legacy bricks, as part of the Duke Dog Paver Campaign, are available for purchase through donations to the Duke Dog Paver Campaign in support of JMU Athletics. 

Two legacy brick and donation options are available: 

• 4" x 8" brick/$250 donation (includes three lines of text and 15 characters per line)
• 8" x 8" brick/$500 donation (includes five lines of text and 15 characters per line)

Once you've selected your brick and donation amount, you can choose the location where it will be installed around the Duke Dog statue. As this is a popular gift and recognition, space is limited and exact locations selected are not guaranteed (we'll get as close as we can though).

    STEP 2: CHOOSE YOUR CUSTOM TEXT

Take your time in selecting the name(s), year(s), favorite quotes and special sayings that you would like to include on your legacy brick. 

Remember, space is limited to three lines of text and 15 characters per line for the 4" x 8" brick and five lines of text and 15 characters per line for the 8" x 8" brick. View examples in the courtyard photo gallery or plan a visit to the courtyard to view in person.

    STEP 3: COMPLETE YOUR DONATION BY PURCHASING ONLINE

You have created your vision for your legacy brick, now it's time to make it a reality by completing your donation/purchase. 

Brick installations take place twice annually, once in the spring and once in the summer. 

Spring installations generally take place in March. To ensure your legacy brick is installed in the spring, all donations/purchases must be completed by February 15.

Summer installations generally take place in late July/early August. To ensure your legacy brick is installed in the summer, all donations/purchases must be completed by July 15. 

Donors will be contacted following the installation to confirm install success and brick location.
