The Duke Club celebrated Letterwinner Weekend 2023 with a kickoff reception at the Atlantic Union Bank Center (AUBC) on Friday, November 17, launching a weekend of events honoring the Dukes of the past while supporting the Dukes of today.

Purple and gold pride was abundant as Dukes Letterwinners fondly reflected on their time at JMU, rewound the memories of athletic and academic experiences and achievements, and reconnected with friends sharing stories of prized past times. With many alumni returning to campus for the first time in years, the weekend of events brought together more than 165 Dukes from 43 different class years – ranging from 1974 to 2022 – in appreciation for the JMU student-athlete shared experience.
 
Letterwinner Weekend 2023 offered an exclusive alumni student-athlete ticket package – which quickly sold out with over 410 tickets sold – that featured a discounted opportunity to attend multiple events throughout the weekend including the Letterwinner Reception on November 17; Men's Basketball vs Radford on November 17; Football vs App State on Saturday, November 18; and Women's Basketball vs VCU on Sunday, November 19. A number of JMU Letterwinners were recognized and honored during each of the weekend competitions.
 
Appreciating the journey JMU Dukes Letterwinners experienced during their time at JMU, the roads they've traveled since they left, and the travels still on the horizon, the Duke Club gifted all Letterwinner attendees an exclusive branded Letterwinner bag tag with their sport name. This special token of appreciation served as a reminder that once JMU student-athletes are a Duke, they're always a Duke and have a place here at JMU Athletics and with the Duke Club.
 
The Duke Club, the fundraising arm for JMU Athletics, strives to provide engaging and memorable annual events, like Letterwinner Weekend, to continue to offer opportunities for alumni, fans, friends, and ultimately donors to celebrate and support JMU's sport programs. A percent of all ticket sales from Duke Club events, like Letterwinner Weekend, go to support the Proud & True Fund – the Athletics annual fund that supports all 18 varsity sport programs, cheerleading, and the annual budget.
